B.E.S.T. provides educational opportunities for strongly academically motivated, economically disadvantaged African-American students from the Baltimore metropolitan area. B.E.S.T. identifies lower-income African-American families who can benefit from the outstanding educational environment provided by our member schools. B.E.S.T. member schools prepare students for successful futures through high standards for academic achievement, careful academic preparation, character building, and leadership training.
At the heart of our mission we work day-to-day to help academically talented African American children gain entry to 20 outstanding independent schools located in the greater Baltimore area.
A dedicated team of professionals at B.E.S.T. is engaged in a host of activities that include: - Providing program information
- Supporting admissions activities at member schools
- Providing two testing opportunities annually for students
- Providing a summer enrichment program for newly enrolled B.E.S.T. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
- Spearheading financial aid weekend workshops
- Enabling motivated young learners to access study skills & test taking workshops
- Providing one-on-one counseling for parents of academically talented children including deadline reminders and help completing documents
- Providing on-going program support
