5th Annual .edu Project Professional Development Workshop at JHU
May 5, 2017
On Friday, May 5th, B.E.S.T. hosted our 5th Annual .edu Project Professional Development Workshop in partnership with Johns Hopkins University and Baltimore City Public Schools. This year’s workshop, “Reframing the College Experience”, featured a college student panel and a professional panel. Facilitated by Calvin Wise, Director of Recruitment for Johns Hopkins University, the student panelists shared their college admission experiences, their transitions to college, and the paths they have taken during their educational journeys. Common themes were navigating surprises, the importance of mentoring and connections on campus beyond the academics. The professional panelists discussed their paths to college, what has been important to them in their careers, and their insights on how to prepare current college students for the workforce.
We are grateful to all of our panelists for candidly sharing their experiences and for reinforcing what students need on their paths to and through college and as they transition to their careers.
