Application Process
Who Should Apply?
Our member schools are academically rigorous, so the most successful applicants are already performing above grade level at their current school. Parents should answer “YES” to all of the following questions prior to filling out the Online Inquiry Form.
- Does my child maintain a grade average of A- or above?
- Are my child’s standardized test scores in the “high achieving” range?
- If applying to Kindergarten, will my child be four years old by September 1st of the application school year in which they are applying to a member school?
- Is my child a self-motivated and independent learner?
- Am I an engaged parent committed to my child’s academic success?

To begin the application process, please complete our Online Inquiry Form.
If you are having trouble completing this form, please call our office at 410.752.2225.
After submitting the Online Inquiry Form you will receive an email containing a candidate information form and a financial evaluation form, as well as instructions for how to submit all required documents to B.E.S.T. This information will be reviewed by our Admissions staff to determine if your child is qualified for an assessment.
NOTE: All preliminary evaluation information and materials are kept strictly confidential and are not shared with any member schools or outside parties during this process.
If academic and financial criteria are met, your child will be invited to participate in an age- and grade-appropriate assessment that measures problem-solving skills and ability. Assessments are conducted weekdays at the B.E.S.T. office by appointment only.
Based on your child’s assessment results, you will be notified as to whether we will move forward with the B.E.S.T. admissions process. If your child is invited to continue, you will attend a two hour parent orientation. This orientation will familiarize you with the B.E.S.T. program, application procedures and deadlines, and our B.E.S.T. member schools. There is a nonrefundable processing fee which will not be accepted until the end of the Parent Orientation.
