B.E.S.T. and Professor D. Watkins

May 10, 2017

On Wednesday, May 10th, B.E.S.T. Upper School young men, their Heads of School, faculty, B.E.S.T. Trustees and B.E.S.T. Alumni attended the Advocates for Children & Youth Distinguished Speakers Luncheon. This year’s speaker was Professor D. Watkins, an author and activist from Baltimore city. Our students had an opportunity to have a private Meet & Greet with Professor Watkins prior to the luncheon, to ask questions and learn more about his journey. During this session and the luncheon, Professor Watkins reinforced several important leadership themes:

  • Tell your own story so others can’t tell it for you
  • Treat others with kindness always
  • Never look down on a person unless you are helping them up
