B.E.S.T. Families Visit St. Mary’s College of Maryland

March 21, 2019

With most of our member schools on Spring Break, B.E.S.T. 9th-11th grade students and their parents attended a tour of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Located two and half hours south of Baltimore in St. Mary’s City, MD, St. Mary’s College of Maryland offered families the chance to learn about the opportunities a small, rural, public college has to offer. Students and parents were greeted by admissions staff and faculty members who gave an overview of the St. Mary’s admissions process as well as a glimpse of on-campus life. After lunch in the dining hall, we spent the day touring the campus, visiting a residence hall, and academic buildings. At the end of the day, families learned about St. Mary’s DeSousa-Brent Program, a program that cultivates the academic and leadership potential of talented students from groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education. We were also very glad to see B.E.S.T. and Maryvale Preparatory School Alumna, Allona H. ’17, during lunch and hear about her experience at St. Mary’s.

Thank you to the staff, students, and administrators who welcomed us and made our visit to campus a great experience!
