Description: B.E.S.T. applicants for grades 5-9 participate in writing, test-taking strategies and mathematic workshops to prepare for the Independent School Entrance Exam. Workshops are taught by independent school faculty.

B.E.S.T. College Session, Featuring Paula Dofat and Alyssa Bowlby

Description: 8-12th grade students and their parents will learn about ways to maximize resources related to the college search process, learn about HBCU’s and Ivy League schools, and how to get the most out of the partnership with the college counseling staff at their member school. Co-facilitated by Paula Dofat, Director of College Counseling at the Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women and Alyssa Bowlby, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Yleana Leadership Foundation.

Gilman Black Alumni Leadership Institute (GBALI)
Date:  Saturdays, October 2021 – February 2022
Time: 8:45am -12:00pm
Location:  Gilman School
Description: Leadership program for upper school students emphasizing educational and career choices and the importance of interpersonal relationships and personal accountability. Applications are required for selection to this free program and become available mid-summer 2021.

FAFSA & CSS Profile: Demystifying the Process – Virtual Information Session

Description: An opportunity for parents of seniors and alumni parents to complete the required FAFSA and CSS Profile online forms under the direction and expertise of college financial aid professionals.
An information session for parents of seniors to learn more about the FAFSA process and the steps to take to prepare for successfully completing the application. Under the direction and expertise of a college financial aid professional and Member School College Counseling staff, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions about the FAFSA application process throughout the session.
