Rhyan
Rhyan is an innovative leader and active member of the Bryn Mawr community. She is a member of The John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY), National Society of High School Scholars, and holds leadership roles in the Student Government association and Black Student Union.
Seeing a need for more in-person support for students throughout the pandemic, she began tutoring friends, family, and classmates. She continued to build upon the success of her tutoring program and founded “Girls Who Tutor” – a peer-to-peer tutoring program that now serves the entire Bryn Mawr community.
Ryan’s passion for knowledge is vast and she seeks out opportunities to get first-hand learning experience through summer internships. She has served as a Court Intern within the Baltimore City Circuit Court alongside current sitting Judge, the Honorable Cynthia H. Jones, and participated in an observership program, shadowing General Surgeon Dr. Elizabeth King at Johns Hopkins Medicine within the Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center.
Rhyan’s Father writes: Upon making the decision to become a part of the Bryn Mawr Community, I was very intentional on ensuring the relationship was reciprocal. Rhyan and I understood what Bryn Mawr had to offer as far as opportunities, resources and a challenging academic environment and our goal was to ensure we took advantage by actively engaging and becoming a staple within the community. Retrospectively, we couldn’t have made a better decision. The entire Bryn Mawr Community has been supportive in all aspects and consistently highlights Rhyan’s contributions to the community. They’ve played a major role in Rhyan’s development into a self-sufficient, strong, intelligent young woman and I am thankful for that.
