Navigating the College Admissions Process & Campus Tour

Last Sunday, B.E.S.T. Trustee and Dean of Admissions at Johns Hopkins University, Calvin Wise, and Courtney Milton, Associate Director of Admissions and Diversity Initiatives at University of Maryland, College Park, hosted B.E.S.T. Upper School students and their families for a “Navigating the College Admissions Process” program. Some of tips shared were how to create a balanced list, the components of the application, different types of applications, how to set yourself apart and common mistakes to avoid when writing college essays, Financial Aid and Affordability, and scholarship resources. They discussed the unique variety of institutions within the state of Maryland and encouraged students to strongly consider studying aboard. The afternoon ended with a student-led tour of the JHU Campus.
